Reflections: an Audience of One
So I’ve been reading through Confessions of a Pastor by Craig Groeschel, and yes I had to look at the cover of the book to spell his last name. But I’ve been wading through a chapter that has been hitting on loneliness. If I can be truly honest with you, this has been a diificult chapter for me to read. It seems to sum up so much of my relationship with the church and others in general. Tonight I read something that really sunk in hard. An audience of One! I think churches have done a great job to corn it up, but the thought of living our lives to please, not perform for, the One is what we were designed for. It’s what I once lived for and strove after, but recently, as Craig puts it, “I’ve been found performing for people.” why is that? Why do we feel like we have to act one way for people when we know that God has planned something different for us? Think about it, is your audience of One really an audience of many?
